I did notice one thing while playing this game...I got a little lazy on the thought process I have been using. I MUST use it! And I did in the middle game when I was figuring out my plans. But I could have played more thoughtful. (especially in the endgame...I got slack!) Still a win is a win!
The cool thing about my rating creeping up a bit is that I can set my seeks for higher rated players thus increasing the likelihood that I will learn from the game be it a win or a loss.
Anyway, here is this week's game:
Have a great Sunday! AND I will be doing an updated version of my favorite game collections sometime this week. Also to come is the oft promised review of Peshka training software AND a special post during Thanksgiving week commemorating my 4 year anniversary of my pursuit of chess as a hobby!!
Seeya soon!
NIce game and nice comments!
ReplyDeleteThanks Farbror!
ReplyDeleteThe Nimzo-Larsen is underappreciated and fairly often leads to creative positions early on, like here. Your opponent made some weaker opening choices - I very much prefer your position at move 12, when you did your standback look at it. I would say that White is actually fairly significantly ahead in development at that point, so good decision to go ahead and exchange queens on your terms.
ReplyDeleteHey ChessAdmin!
ReplyDeleteI really do like the Nimzo-Larsen and by playing 1. Nf3 I give myself some flexibility. I can see what the 2nd player wants to do. (the Ruy is still my favorite opening but it hardly ever gets played and I hate the Sicilian opening)
I have been playing through some Capablanca games and noticed that he always made exchanges on his terms so I am trying to model that. I am also trying to become less worried about castling just to castle.
